CREATE ~ EDUCATE ~ INSPIRE
Keep up with all the exciting things happening at TDA!
We are so excited to announce that we have partnered with Darby Dancers Special Needs Program. The Dance Academy is honored to be the only dance studio in the U.P. of Michigan to be part of such an amazing non-profit program!
Darby's Dancers is a 501(c)(3) organization founded by the parents of Darby Jones of Huntsville, Alabama. Darby's Dancers provides an opportunity for children with special needs to participate in the performing arts through dance education.
At once-a-week classes, Darby's Dancers learn all types of dance in a fun, encouraging atmosphere. Dancers in the program gain confidence, coordination, strength and lifelong friends, all while feeling like a star. DD also provides volunteer opportunities for teens through The Dance Academy's Leadership program. Our youth volunteers learn important lessons in responsibility and friendship by providing one-on-one assistance to each of Darby's dancers.
DD classes are taught by TDA's dance instructors, most with a background in special needs or child education. Each DD dancer is assigned a special mentor (student of TDA that is in our leadership program), that will help guide them through the class, performances and establish a lifelong friendship.
Costs associated with this program are completely free to DD students enrolled.
Class dates, times and instructors will be announced soon.
Help spread the word to anyone that might be interested in participating in this amazing and fulfilling program.
Classes will begin at all TDA locations in January!!
